Old Business
Signs for the Beach
Have removed the old signs and will replace with ‘Beach Pass Holders Only’ signs
The new signs are expected in about 2 weeks. Brian has temporary signs that are laminated to put up until the new signs are available.
Grounds
New gravel will be put in the parking lot by the end of the week.
Top soil will be used to fill in the lawn around the trees to cover the exposed tree roots. Will need to keep the area roped off until it has settled and the new lawn has started to grow.
Kayla brought up the concern about the slider that was not working last year. Brian reports that he fixed it last week and he will check it again this week.
Water has been working for a couple of weeks. Samantha did mention that we need the part to use the faucet to rinse feet.
Lifeguards
We have 3 permanent guards for the summer.
Brian brought copies of contract for the council to review. Brian gave contracts to the guards.
Motion was made for No Lifeguards on Sunday by Victoria, this was seconded by Clyde.
Motion made for lifeguard hours to be reduced to 8-3 Monday thru Friday and Saturday 10-5. Public swim will be from 12:30-2:30, guards will plan to do the beach clean-up from 2:30-3 pm.
Will have a sign to post that only children in swimming lessons can be in the water during lessons.
Only can have 8 children per group. Motion was made to eliminate the level VII class and to replace it with another class that has more than 8 swimmers. This motion was seconded and lifeguards are in agreement with the plan.
Brian recommended to the board that we give the 3 life guards a raise given their increased responsibility. Clyde made a motion for raise and this was seconded by Samantha. Council will review current salary and will make recommendation for salary increase based on budget.
Kayla informed the council that she has lifeguard training this weekend, and will be unavailable for swimming lesson sign ups. Sam has agreed to sign swimmers up on Saturday.
Residents will be from 10-12 and non-residents will be from 12-2 (please verify Matt)
There will not be any lifeguards on duty to monitor the beach this weekend.
The parents will need to fill out a Waiver for each individual child.
Parents will leave their email addresses, and we will send them an email with the time of their lessons.
Sam asked whether the lifeguards would be able to take time off if they are able to find a substitute lifeguard to cover their shift. The council approved the use of a substitute lifeguard, but they must contact Matt or Brian with the substitute guards name, and information. They substitute will need to provide copy of certification.
Kyla brought up the concern that the phone in the beach house was not working. Brian will make sure that it is working.
Kyla also brought up the concern for weasels that were running around on the property. Brian states that if they return, she should call him to have some come evaluate the situation. Jason recommended that she call the Fish and Game Department and explain the situation.
New Business
Beach Passes
Matt reported that 12 beach passes have been sold to people who live out of town and 242 passes for residents. We have 40 available non-resident passes this year.
If they do not have a pass, Jason recommended that if patrons become confrontational she should get the person’s license plate number and state and email the information to Jason.
Brian will laminate a sign will notify patrons that someone will be checking beach passes.
Day passes will be available from the guards. Patrons will need to pay with exact change or be asked to leave the beach.
Discussed replacing pass with a stamp or wrist band, council will look options further.
Season non-resident passes will be available at the Town Hall only.
Motion made to have a beach monitor. Will check the budget. The monitor will the beach. Would want it to be from 12 – 2:30 and weekends as well.
Beach Clean Up
Scheduled for June 21st at 8 am.
Things to evaluate during clean up- ropes, tether ball, slider, weights used in swimming lessons, backboard straps, First Aid Kit, Lifeguard chair, picnic tables, paper towel holders and toilet paper holders.
AED- would like to have available to lifeguards.
Brian will have costs for new AED by the end of the week
Discussed placement of AED and the guards and council agreed that it would be best to keep it in the lifeguard area.
If we were able to purchase one this year, all guards are certified in using it, and would be able ot help with checking the battery regularly.
Volunteers needed for the Concert series
Contact Matt if you have any interest in volunteering.
Ice cream Social- planned for July 8th.
Samantha is looking into having a Bouncy House for children. She will discuss with Lisa Hinsley funding and let the rest of the council know.
