08-01-2017 Cemetery Commission Meeting

The Fairlee Cemetery Commissioners met on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 in the Town Clerk’s Office at the Fairlee Town Hall.

The meeting was called to order at 6:40pm by the Chair Chaz Hinsley.

Present were Cemetery Commissioners; Chaz Hinsley, Ric Sleeper, Robert Edmands, Larry Farnham and Georgette Wolf-Ludwig, Town Clerk.

Secretary’s Report

Ric made a motion to approve the minutes from June 28,2017. Larry seconded the motion. All were in favor. The motion carried.

Old Business

The Commissioners discussed using Standing Stone Landscape Architecture as the contractor to repair headstones in the Fairlee Village Cemetery. They discussed a strategy on fixing some of the worst head stones.  Larry confirmed that the contractor has time in September to make repairs. Chaz made the motion to contract with Standing Stone Landscape Architecture for one or two days if possible pending on the money available in the cemetery fund account. Ric seconded the motion. All were in favor. The motion carried.

Georgette would check with the Treasurer to get the balance in fund account and then get back to Larry so he could speak to the contractor on how many days.

Larry would schedule the days with the contractor for the end of September.

The Commissioner discussed pending burials and plot maps needed. The Commissioners decided that the correction of plots for Kinghorn and Sargent on the cemetery map was fine and accurate. The Commissioners all agreed that cornerstones should be place on the inside of the lots.

Georgette will get pricing of Cemetery Rule sign for the next meeting. The Commissioners tabled confirming rules until next meeting. Ric will get stone for cemetery road repair.

New Business

The Commissioners discussed cemetery maintenance and tree removal. Chaz will be in touch will Bill Murphy for a tree removal estimate.

The Commissioners discussed future projects; purchasing adjoining property from Herbert Gray, clearing and stumping the Hayward Memorial Lot, and fixing broken water line by shed.

Being there was no other business, Chaz adjourned the meeting.
