Lake Morey water clarity unprecedented

Alum Treatment a Success

The Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation along with the Lake Morey Commission performed water quality tests of Lake Morey on September 19. Secchi * readings would have been over 11.4 meters (37 feet) had the disc not hit the bottom. Don Weaver, long time lake monitor says: “in my 30 years of testing the lake, there has never been a result like this.”

*Secchi depth refers to the depth at which a disk lowered into the water can no longer be seen from the surface. Secchi depth is related to water clarity and is a measure of how deep light can penetrate into the water.
