Continuing Art Exhibit at Town Hall-July-Sept. - Kate Cone
My current paintings are of familiar landscapes done in watercolor, pastel and acrylic. I pay close attention to the feeling that the landscape evokes to me, the light at the time I observed it and composition in the overall frame.
By close observation and with careful interpretation of forms and colors I hope to achieve semi realistic landscapes. My desire is to go beyond the realistic to a more impressionistic rendering with economy of line and detail.
I look forward to more portrait, figure, and still life painting. While acrylics are a new medium for me I enjoy using them very much. Watercolor enables me to paint easily while traveling, camping, or painting outdoors near home. Pastels gives me a rich palette and a wonderful drawing medium.
