Conservation Commission information
On Town Meeting Day, one of the articles the town will be voting on is whether to form a Conservation Commission.
What a Fairlee Conservation Commission could do:
- Develop and maintain inventories of the Town’s natural resources to assist in their conservation for the benefit of the townspeople.
- Host workshops and community events to encourage understanding and appreciation of the local environment
- Accept grant funding and gifts of land for conservation purposes
- Serve as a resource for the town’s residents for conservation options and opportunities such as weatherization programs.
- Advise the Selectboard and Planning Commission on natural resource issues
- Work to create healthy and sustainable communities for present and future generations.
A Conservation Commission would not operate in the Town Forest; the Fairlee Forest Board manages our Town Forest.
