Old Business:
Georgette needs cremation certificates for a few past cremation burials in the Village Cemetery. Larry will follow up on that.
Georgette needs information on a new cremation burial in the Ely Cemetery. Georgette will follow up on that.
Ric reports he put signs up at both the Village Cemetery and the Ely Cemetery. He also put gravel in the road at the Village Cemetery. He put the flag and flag light up at the Village Cemetery.
Larry and Robert put flags on graves for Memorial Day.
Chaz reports that three precarious old oak trees were removed from the Village Cemetery along with a number of other leaning trees. This work used the budgeted $5,000. Discussion that some big pines at the Ely Cemetery need to be cut down. It will require a crane and cost in the neighborhood of $8,000. It was noted it would cost a lot more to repair grave stones if the trees fall on the cemetery. Some funds will be budgeted for this next year. It was decided to look at trees just to the south of the pauper section of the Village Cemetery at the next meeting in July.
Chaz reports spring cleanup cost more than anticipated due to weather related blown down branches. Bill Hodge did a nice job taking care of this.
Larry will contact Standing Stone to tell them to begin stone repair in the Village Cemetery. Their proposal from last year was reviewed and it was noted they will do the same work for the same money this year. It was originally scheduled for last fall but was delayed.
New business:
We currently have $12,980.06 in the Cemetery Fund and $34,261.76 in a CD at Community Bank. The CD is up for renewal this month. After discussion about what to do with the CD funds when they become available, a motion from Mills, Sleeper second to move $10,000 from the available CD funds to the Cemetery Fund and put the remainder in a 21 month Vermont State Employee Credit Union CD at 2.5%.
A discussion about buying a swath of land to the north of the cemetery from Herbie Gray. Chaz will follow up.
Next meeting will be July 11 at 6:00 PM at the Village Cemetery.
Meeting adjourned at 7:12 PM.
