10-11-2017 Library Board Meeting

Call to order was at 7:10 by Chair Joel Adamson

In attendance: Cyrie Lange, Samantha Hickman, Joel Adamson, Charlotte Williams, Ammie Collins

Minutes of September 12th Meeting were approved unanimously.

1) Librarian’s Report

-Tim reports windows will be installed in November. We will need to use $1000 or so from our savings account in addition to building repairs and capital budget amounts.

-Samantha has contacted a man in Post Mills for a quote on power washing the siding,

-At this point we will need to report to the town October 24th with a draft budget for 2018.

-Town is switching to Patten/Perry Oil next year. We still have a full oil tank and $1349 left in the budget.

-NELA conference is Oct 22-24 in Burlington.

-International Games Week is Oct 29-Nov 4. Suzanne may be able to host games on Saturday Nov. 4th in the afternoon, as Samantha will be away.

-Two Norwich meetings this month, one on Koha and one is a cataloging refresher course.

-Weeding of mysteries section is underway.

-Samantha will be on vacation Oct 29-Nov4.

2) Treasurer’s Report (printout received 10/10/17) Nothing stands out as a problem.

3) Other Business

-Discussion of 2018 Budget Proposal

Increase cleaning hours to three per week from two per week.
Increase shoveling hours to 50 hours at 2% increase.
Increase substitute/assistant 3%.
Increase cleaning 2%.
Increase annual cleaning to $1000 to include power wash.
Increase “what-if” building repair by $1500.
Trustees will agree on Samantha’s salary by email.

New Chair for Friends of the Library is needed.

4) Next Trustees Meeting: Tuesday November 7th at 7 PM.
