02-10-2021 Recreation Council Meeting
Fairlee Recreation Council Draft Minutes February 10, 2021
Meeting called to order at 6:00 pm.
Members present: Meg Bourn, Cammie Buster, Bernice Mills
Discussions:
Christmas Tree/Decorations
Meghann will reach out to Georgette to see if they want the tree/wreaths/decorations down and report back to the council members. Meghann agreed to take down the lights and wreaths if that is what the Town wanted. Cami said she would take down the tree but it would need to be cut down and the stump removed at a later date.
Fairlee Beach Summer Staff
The members agreed that we should post the beach manager position and two or three guards. If COVID guidelines allow the beach to open we should have up to five guards. If COVID guidelines allow beaches to open then the council will talk about opening the beaches.
Cami will reach out to Tad regarding beach staff and report back to the council members. This will be revisited at the March 10, 2021 meeting that is scheduled for 6:00pm.
Ice Skating Rink
Cami stated that the skating rink was discussed at a selectboard meeting but she did not know how the discussion went. Meghann will reach out to Tad to get an update from the selectboard, so she can report back to the community members who brought it up to her.
The members decided to put the ice skating rink on hold this year. This will allow the rec council members more time to find the answers to the following questions:
- Would the ice skate rink be housed on the common?
- How much does it cost to create the rink?
- Does it impact the grass?
- Who maintains it?
- Who is liable if someone gets hurt?
St. Patrick’s Day
The Rec Council members decided to forego celebrating St. Patrick’s Day due to COVID.
