01-08-2020 Library Board Meeting
Board of Trustees Meeting
Fairlee Library
January 8, 2020
In attendance: Cyrie Lange, Samantha Hickman, Charlotte Williams, Joy Weale, Jen Johnson
1) The meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM by Cyrie Lange.
2) Minutes of December 11th meeting were approved without changes.
3) Librarian’s Report: –Samantha is planning the 2020 Summer Reading Program. Town electric bills may be lower because of the solar project. However, our use is not high enough to be included. We spent 96.64% of our 2019 budget. We had ~$3800 unused. The library will be part of Library Extension. This will allow users to see what books they are considering buying are available at the library. Overdrive/Libby is being used extensively. 80 checkouts ($16) it appears are from another library. Samantha is investigating this. Orange County Parent Child Center would like to have a Story Time here on either Friday Feb. 7th or 14th. Amazon wish list brought in some donations and $280 cash. Samantha will be sending out thank-you cards. Samantha will re-assess the Junior Library Guild, due to lack of use by the YA group. Door count and items circulated were up for 2019 vs. 2018. Samantha is still considering a graphic novel book group for grades 4-6. Smoke detector will be replaced.
4) Treasurer’s Report: — See Librarian’s Report. Our 2020 budget is $400 less than last year’s. We may be given $1000 back.
5) Old Business: — none.
6) New Business: Two armchairs were donated to the library by the Lake Morey Inn. Potential new trustees were discussed. Peter Lange is willing to fix the broken wooden chair. Jen will approach Copeland or Pompanoosuc first to see if they would like to work with us on a discount for a set of chairs. Friends of the library have offered to buy one computer chair. We also need to think about some new rugs/runners. Bill Weale is working on replacing fluorescent bulbs with energy-efficient. The Annual Report has been turned in.
Meeting adjourned at 8:35 PM. Next meeting will be February 12th at 6:00.
Respectfully submitted,
Charlotte Williams, Recording Secretary
