12-09-2020 Library Board Meeting

Board of Trustees Meeting
Fairlee Library
December 9, 2020

In attendance: Cyrie Lange, Samantha Hickman, Charlotte Williams, Stacy Dunham, Joy Weale, Jen Johnson

  1. The meeting was called to order at 7:02 PM by Cyrie Lange by Zoom session.
  2. Minutes of November 11th meeting were approved unanimously, on a motion by Cyrie, seconded by Stacey
  3. Librarian’s Report: New Story Walk is up: “Bear Stays Up for Christmas”, and the pages are securely stapled. Tea light craft was very successful. Donations are coming in ($335) for now, plus one book from the Christmas Wish List. Book Group books have been chosen, although it will probably need to be on Zoom through April. All bills must be in to the town by December 18th. For now, the state is allowing our library to remain open under the current strict conditions. The town will be giving us a few used computers; Samantha has bought a laptop using computer money still in the budget. Jay Barrett’s letter recommending the shed not be rehabilitated is ready to go to the town via Tad, along with a statement that both the Trustees and the Building have voted unanimously to remove the shed. We should request that the SB respond with their decision.
  4. Treasurer’s Report: We do not have an updated report from the Town at this point. Samantha has still not heard any word about the discrepancy in the electric bills. The town would like to postpone paving the parking lot until drainage is resolved and a decision is made on our building possibility.
  5. Old Business: Jen reported for the Building Committee that Jay Barrett recommended draftperson Tim make a detailed drawing of the building. The cost of this will be about $3500 to $4000. The Building Committee is conflicted about whether this expenditure is warranted. We should ask Dennis O’Donnell for his opinion. The Trustees would be in favor of Jen contacting Dennis and then informing the Building Committee the Trustees are in favor of going ahead with Jay’s proposal.

Meeting adjourned at 7:35 PM. Next meeting will be Wednesday January 13th at 7 PM by Zoom.

Respectfully submitted,

Charlotte Williams, Recording Secretary
