Board of Trustees Meeting
Fairlee Library
January 9, 2019

In attendance: Cyrie Lange, Samantha Hickman, Charlotte Williams, Joy Weale

  1. The meeting was called to order at 7:14 PM by Cyrie Lange.

  2. Minutes of the November 14th meeting were accepted.

  3. Librarian’s Report:

–Request sent to Valley Floors for an estimate on carpet tiles.

–Samantha is waiting for estimates from Tim on different types of external siding.

–Amazon wish list raised $255 this year. Almost all the adult books on the list have been ordered, plus some juvenile items.

–We will be eligible to receive Vermont state grants in spite of some glitches on statistics submission.

–Samantha took NARCAN training and is planning to take another session sponsored by the VT Department of Libraries.

–Preparation for the Summer Reading Program is in progress. Samantha will attend a workshop on February 13th.

–VT AARP contacted the library about a possible free fraud prevention program.

–A violin maker is willing come to speak at no charge.

–Junior Library Guild renewal is due; early renewal will give us a credit of $100 to spend.

–Door count is down a bit from last year (0.6%), but numbers are still great. Polar Express was very well attended.

4) Treasurer’s Report: Samantha has not received an updated spreadsheet from the town treasurer.

5) New business:

—Ammie’s term is up this year. Samantha and the Trustees need to come up with some ideas for a new Trustee.

–Per request of the Trustees, Samantha will email a monthly librarian’s report to the Board, particularly on months when the Board does not meet.

–Cyrie has contacted two painters about interior work. She is asking for written estimates and hopes to get this work set up within the next three months.

Meeting adjourned at 8:23 PM. Next meeting will be March 13th.
